In any pneumatic system, solenoid valves with built-in timers help the user automate on and off time of the solenoid valves. There are various time cycles, such as a repeat cycle, delay, single shot, delayed repeat, and single cycle.

Let’s understand each time cycles of a solenoid valve with a timer:

Repeat Cycle – When the input voltage is provided to the timer, the output becomes de-energized throughout this period. The output activates at the end of this OFF time, and the ON time starts. The output de-energizes when the ON time ends and the OFF time begins again. While input voltage is present, this off/on sequence continues indefinitely. The output de-energizes and the timer resets when the input voltage is removed.

Delay – When power is applied, the timer goes into the OFF state for a period T (is the amount of time it takes for a full cycle of vibration to pass a certain point), then transitions to ON state indefinitely.

Single Shot – When power is applied, the timer goes into the ON state for a period T, then transitions to OFF indefinitely.

Delayed Repeat – When power is applied, the timer goes into the OFF state for a period T2, then back to the ON for a period T1.

Single Cycle – When power is applied, the timer goes into the OFF state for a period T2, then switches back to ON for a period T1. It then turns OFF and stays that way indefinitely.
